The Greenwood MFRC is governed by a Board of Directors, comprising of a minimum of 51% civilian spouses of military members, that work as trustees on behalf of the community. Board Members are voted into office at the
Annual General Meeting that is usually held in May. The Board may appoint interim Board members to fill vacancies to complete the current term of office.
The Board Governance model selected by the GMFRC is the John Carver model and works on the premise of Board Holism. That is, "the Board is a single organizational position and must officially behave as "one". Consequently, board officers exist to help the board do its job, not as powers unto themselves" (John Carver, "Boards That Make A Difference"
page 152). The Board operates with both Standing Committees and Ad hoc Committees. Standing Committees include Executive Committee (Chairperson, Vice, Secretary, Treasurer),
Board Development Committee, and Fund Raising Committee. Ad hoc committees are committees stood up to deal with short-term issues.
The GMFRC Board of
Directors is committed to risk management and regularly conducts checks to
ensure the Centre is actively minimizing identified risks.
