Deployment Services
When
a member is away from his/her family (spouse, children, parents, etc.) we
will provide outreach services to the family:
- Make
regular monthly phone calls to check in (Warm Line)
- Send
our monthly Deployment newsletter
- Invite
the family to social gatherings and special events
- Provide
information packages tailored to the family and the deployment
- Provide
free shipment of the family’s parcels to the member
- Visit,
on request, your location to meet with members and their families
In
addition, the member will also be supported through our Support our Troops Awareness
Campaign—each deployed member receives a monthly “care package”
sponsored by the MFRC.
Call
the Coordinator of Deployment Services at our toll-free number (1-888-739-0339).
Ask for local 5583.
Emergency
Childcare
This service provides free regulated childcare in emergency
situations, for a period of up to 72 hours.
Each situation is assessed individually.
The military lifestyle, for those on long-term deployment, holds
unique challenges, and this program can alleviate some of your concerns. We also offer assistance to military members and their
families who wish to develop an emergency childcare plan. Reach our Coordinator of Child, Youth and Parenting Services at our toll-free number (1-888-739-0339
Monday-Friday). Ask for local 1812.
Volunteer
Services
A volunteer program provides an opportunity for families to take an active
role in participating in their community.
Volunteers of all ages have an impact on every aspect of our
society—even if you only have a few hours to contribute, every hour makes
a difference! There are more
than 200 volunteer centres in Canada. The
MFRC needs the help of INTERESTED SPOUSES OF UNIT MEMBERS to be our liaison
in each community. A small
commitment of your time can provide so much benefit! You can give input on such things as what services we should
provide, perhaps give us photos of Unit events to post on the WebPage!
The MFRC occasionally has special courses, functions and events just
for our volunteers. Volunteers
do make a difference! So get
out and help your Resource Centre— wherever you are!
Prevention,
Support and Intervention
The components of this program include prevention in the form of life skills
courses, short-term counselling, family mediation and mutual assistance
groups. If there is enough interest, we are able to bring some of
these services to you. One-day
workshops can be arranged on a variety of topics, including: anger
management, communication, conflict resolution, grief & loss, parenting,
and marriage issues. Access to our resource library is open to all members of
Reserve units and their families, free of charge.
The Coordinator of Prevention, Support and Intervention can be reached
in confidence, via the toll-free number 1-888-739-0339,
our Main Reception at 765-5611 and ask for local 1811
during working hours.
