Families can send parcels overseas (free of charge) through the Military Family Resource Centre.  Limit is once a week.   Please read the following instructions on how to send your parcels through this free service.

PROCEDURES FOR POSTAL SERVICE FOR AIR CREW

  • This service is only provided one way (from Greenwood to the Deployed member)
  • Member deployed for any length of time.  
  • Parcel must be wrapped in brown paper and taped.  (no string, staples, or other object attached outside the box)
  • Sender must inscribe their address and phone number on the top left corner and the deployed member's address in the middle of the parcel (click here to see diagram) to enable the MFRC and postal personnel to process without any problems.  A detailed list of content is required and should be listed on the bottom left end corner of the parcel.  No parcel is to be accepted unless this information is included.  Click here to view an example.

  • Parcels/letters may be drop off at the following points:

For security reasons, we are no longer posting the addresses on our site.  If you would like to find out the mailing address for a member, please contact us.   You can also check the following link for mailing addresses and additional information: http://www.forces.gc.ca/site/commun/message/index-eng.asp. Always verify the Greenwood member's mailing address with us first.  The information found on these Web pages might not be for the Greenwood's detachments.

PARCELS DEPARTING SCHEDULE

Parcels dropped off at the MFRC are picked up by the Wing every morning (no specific time). Once processed through Central Registry, they leave Greenwood every week on Thursdays to go to Belleville, Ontario for transportation.  We recommend that the parcels are brought to the MFRC by the end of Tuesday at the latest in order to leave from Trenton the following week.  Click here for our address and contact information. 

PROCEDURES FOR PARCELS GOING TO SHIPS

  • This service is only provide one way (from Halifax to the Deployed ship).  

  • Ship must be deployed for a minimum of 30 days.

  • To prevent problems, we recommend that this service not be used within two weeks of addressee's return to Canada

  • Because there are no special services provided, Senders wishing to have their parcels insured, registered, etc... will have to mail their parcels/letters using Canada Post and pay for these services

  • Parcels/letters may be drop off at the following point:

NON MAILABLE MATTER

Non-mailable matter is defined as any mail which is prohibited by law or which contains products or substances that could harm postal employees, soil or damage other mail or postal equipment.

Dangerous goods means any product, material, substance or organism that by its nature is radioactive, poisonous, corrosive, explosive, flammable, oxidizing, a compressed gas or aerosol, infectious or that could be harmful to life, health, property or the environment. 

Some dangerous goods may be accepted by Canada Post Corporation provided they are prepared for mailing in accordance with the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act requirements and Canada Post Corporation is capable of handling and transporting them. For more information contact your local Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Officer or a National Industrial Safety Officer.

Criminal Code and Excise Tax Offences

Any person using the mail for the delivery of any one of the items listed below commits an offence:

  1. Articles that are obscene, indecent, immoral or scurrilous

  2. Any information relating to bookmaking, pool-setting, betting or waging

  3. Articles relating to unlawful lottery schemes

  4. Any article relating to schemes to deceive or defraud the public

  5. Articles or special messages sent to any person with the intention to obtain money under false pretences.

Tobacco Products: Tobacco products are non-mailable unless: 

  • The shipments are between manufacturers or retailers
  • The person is otherwise exempted by the regulation

Firearms: Please contact the Canadian Firearms Centre at 1-800-731-4000 to determine whether it is permissible to post the firearms.

Intoxicating Beverages: Individuals may not send intoxicating beverages in the mail. Intoxicating beverages (e.g. liquor, wine and beer) are non-mailable except if: 

  • A Provincial Liquor Board or Commission is mailing to a manufacturer, distributor or individual in Canada or to a manufacturer or distributor outside Canada
  • A manufacturer of such beverages is mailing to a Provincial Liquor Board or Commission or distributor of such beverages in Canada
  • A distributor of such beverages is mailing to a Provincial Liquor Board or Commission or manufacturer of such beverages or distributor of such beverages in Canada
  • They are mailed from outside of Canada and are addressed to a Provincial Liquor Board or Commission or manufacturer or distributor of such beverages
  • They are mailed between a peace officer and a test laboratory for the purpose of carrying out a lawful investigation.

 NOTE: Regardless of who is shipping, if the intoxicating beverage is:

  1. More than 24% alcohol by volume (e.g. 48 proof) and in a container greater than five liters (5 L)

  2. More than 70% alcohol by volume (e.g. 140 proof) then special restrictions applies.

Dangerous Goods

The following dangerous goods are prohibited:

  1. Compressed gases

  2. Corrosive substances

  3. Explosive substance

  4. Flammable liquids or solids (e.g. matches)

  5. Oxidizing substances

  6. Radioactive substances

  7. Poisonous and infectious substances

  8. Celluloid, liquid celluloid and inflammable films

NOTE: Non-flammable or “safety” films may be mailed if packed in containers approved by Canada Post Corporation.
