The Employment and Education Services is at the forefront of providing services to the spouse and family members.  The goal of the service is to improve the employment and training opportunities/options for the military family unit currently in the area and those coming into the area due to postings.

The “how” of the service far-reaching and expanding.  Through the use of individual and group sessions, a comprehensive resource library and Internet resources available at Coordinator of Employment and Education's office assists civilian members of the military family unit to develop resumes, cover letters, interview skills and job search skills to enhance their respective opportunities for employment and or training.  The service also provides information on the local job market, is an advocate for the family member and facilitates exposure to other services within the MFRC.

The objectives are clear and precise and with the military family member in mind the service is also dynamic in its changing delivery of services to meet the needs of the family.  In short the service are…

  • Job Search and Interview Skills: Learn how to do an effective job search that makes sure nothing slips through the cracks.  Learn what is behind the most common interview questions and what the interviewer is looking for in your answer.
  • Career Mapping: Career mapping is a technique where you determine through self evaluation, market assessment and a matching process to determine the career path that best fits your abilities, skills and interests.
  • Up-To-Date Job Board: On a daily basis ten Internet sites are searched and any relevant jobs are posted on the job board. 
  • Resume Writing: Whether one to one or in a group workshop learn how to interpret a job ad, learn to provide key words, learn how to have your resume stand out from the crowd.
  • Career Resource Library: All topics are covered that relate to career information, labor market information and educational opportunities.
  • Assess to Retraining Programs: The Employment coordinator will aid you in identifying the gaps you may have in training and tailor a program to meet your needs.  Depending on your situation many options could be open to you.
  • Information on Academic Upgrading: There are many possibilities to get the education you want, all you have to do is talk to the Employment Coordinator and he will help you with the process.
  • Home Based Business Information: With the network of professionals in the area many resources can be found to help you establish a home business or an entrepreneurial endeavor.
