The
Greenwood Military Family Resource Centre is currently recruiting
volunteers to sit on their Board of Directors. As a member of the
Board, a Director is a trustee for the community and is responsible for
the effective governance of the organization. The GMFRC Board of
Directors is the legal authority for the GMFRC and is responsible to the
Military Community. Members of the Board provide guidance, support and
direction to the GMFRC Executive Director to set overall policy and
establish the long-term goals of the GMFRC.
Qualifications: Board members must be
at least 19 years of age or older. The Board of Directors is to be
comprised of 51% civilian spouses of military members, the balance to be
from the military and civilian professional community. Volunteers who
wish to be a Board member should have a demonstrated interest in the
Military Family Resource Centre, with specific interest(s) in Human
Resources, Planning, Finances, Public Relations and Fundraising.
Requirements of GMFRC Board membership include:

A commitment to the
work of the GMFRC
·
A commitment to set
board policies in keeping with our mission and vision
·
An understanding
that the Board offers general direction and support to the Executive
Director
·
A commitment to
participate in fund-raising activities
·
Attendance of Board
members at monthly meetings and the Annual General meeting
·
Attendance and
support of GMFRC special events
·
Community liaison
and networking
·
An understanding of
the confidentiality of all Board business
The
GMFRC meets on a monthly basis on the third Wednesday evening of each
month. All GMFRC Volunteers are required to undergo a Criminal Records
& Child Abuse Registry check as part of the volunteer screening process.
At the GMFRC we realize that joining a Board of Directors involves great
responsibility and can be a big decision. Our dedicated staff and
volunteers are here to support, orient, and train you so that your
